TRUQAP + abiraterone with prednisone is for certain people with metastatic* prostate cancer that is PTEN-deficient

mPC with PTEN deficiency

Metastatic* prostate cancer and PTEN deficiency

If you or your loved one has been diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer, that means the disease has spread to other parts of the body.

  • For certain people, their metastatic* prostate cancer responds to hormone therapy, a treatment that reduces hormone levels to help manage their cancer. This may be referred to as metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer, or mHSPC
  • However, when tumors have PTEN deficiency, there is an additional path for the tissue to grow despite hormone therapy
  • Because of this, combining hormone therapy with another treatment that specifically targets PTEN deficiency may be right for certain people with metastatic prostate cancer that is PTEN-deficient

What is PTEN deficiency?

PTEN deficiency refers to a lack of PTEN, a protein that blocks cancer signals. When PTEN is lacking, tumors may grow more quickly and aggressively. Your doctor or healthcare team may also refer to it as PTEN loss.

A biomarker test can determine if you have PTEN deficiency.

Biomarker testing

Start your plan with   biomarker testing

Biomarkers are signs in your body that doctors can find to learn more about your health. PTEN deficiency is a biomarker that can change how tumors grow in metastatic* prostate cancer.

  • PTEN deficiency is a biomarker that causes tumors to grow more quickly
  • Around 25% of people with metastatic* prostate cancer that is responding to hormone therapy have tumors with PTEN deficiency
  • To test for PTEN deficiency (with IHC), your doctor uses a small tissue sample of the tumor that is taken through a biopsy
  • Testing for biomarkers like PTEN deficiency can help your doctor figure out if a targeted treatment may be right for you

TRUQAP + abiraterone with prednisone, a targeted treatment option, is the first combination therapy of its
kind for certain people with
metastatic* prostate cancer that is PTEN-deficient.

*Metastatic=cancer that has spread to other parts of the body.

The TRUQAP plan starts
with talking to your doctor
about testing for PTEN deficiency.

IHC=immunohistochemistry; mHSPC= metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer; mPC=metastatic prostate cancer; PTEN=phosphatase and tensin homolog.
